LUCKNOW: Unmindful of political developments, Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati has asked her party coordinators to begin selecting candidates for the assembly polls. With the intention of winning over 200 seats, the BSP president has identified constituencies where she is sure of her party's victory.
The BSP has around 80 coordinators, many of whom have been given charges of more than one districts, while some have been relieved of their charges.
1x1 polls

For achieving this goal, Mayawati says funds will play a crucial role. All Dalit organisations or even movements meant to benefit the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have failed in the country because of paucity of funds, says BSP national spokesman Sudhir Goyal recalling Mayawati's quotes.
This obviously means that she lays sufficient stress on collection of funds for party's victory in the Vidhan Sabha polls, admitted a party colleague.
According to her estimates, the BSP commands 35,000 to 50,000 votes in over 250 assembly segments in the state. If BSP ticket holders could manage a few thousand extra votes, their victory could be ensured, said a BSP leader.
The next step for the party is to defeat those who have played spoilsport for the party in the past. In this direction, Mayawati has even identified a former Vidhan Sabha Speaker and an ex-chief minister of the state.
The BSP thinks that if such leaders could be defeated in the polls, the morale of the party workers would get a boost.
